Kiandra and I caught an early flight this morning to Salzburg, Austria.
It was raining a bit as we landed (you could exit at the front or rear of the plane):
and we took a 30 minute walk to our hotel. The hotel kept our bags and we decided to do a little exploring because it had stopped raining shortly after we arrived at the hotel.
We discovered that there was a large mall about half an hour from our hotel and so we walked there. When we arrived we realized that it was closed! Most things in Salzburg were closed on Sundays including most of the restaurants we tried to stop at for lunch. We finally got back to our hotel and used google to find one of the only places open so that we could eat. It was, thankfully, delicious!
Then we decided to catch a bus to the city centre and there was so much to explore and it was beautiful! Some of the souvenir stores were open and some restaurants too. I guess we should have come here earlier instead of trying to find the mall.
We found an outdoor market with shops all along the river bank and it was so cool to explore all of their tents. You can see all of the tents along the side of the river all the way to the next bridge:
Kiandra and I each bought some pieces as souvenirs:
One of the things I really liked was the lock bridge:
where hundreds of people have left their locks:
Kiandra and I decided to commemorate our trip by buying a lock (it was 10 euro with free engraving) to place on the bridge.
and we chose a spot for our lock:
The cool thing was that even though we chose the spot randomly, our spot ended up being in the 17th section--perfect for our trip in 2017.
We wandered around looking at the amazing buildings:
Even their McDonald's looked fancy:
Looked in a few shops:
found some cool doors:
The "blessed and lucky" door:
and some pickle statues:
and walked around Mirabell Gardens
and found the place we were supposed to meet for our tour tomorrow:
and then finished our day with an ice cream stop:
#MotherDaughterGirlsTrip2017 is off to a great start!
