Dinner for 80!

It's been a tradition for me to help out with our day camp's Wednesday night supper. Although the camp is just a "day camp" the campers sleep over from Wednesday until Thursday and then there is a familly BBQ on Thursday night. It's a LONG day for the staff because kids are dropped off on Wednesday morning and then don't go home with their families until around 7:30 on Thursday night. I think Kezia and Kaden will be exhausted by tomorrow.

This year's theme is like a cruise ship:

and their theme verse is Hebrews 6:19 "We have this hope for the soul, firm and secure..." and the church looked awesome with all of the signs and decor:

The menu this evening for the campers and staff was Taco Salad, veggies & dip, and blue jello with gummy fish for dessert:

nearly
18 heads of lettuce
21 pounds of ground beef
7 large bags of chips
8 packages of shredded cheese
1 large bottle salsa
1 container plus a bit of sour cream
and bowls of assorted veggies

were consumed by this hungry crew. What fun it was to see the joy in the camper's faces and see the excitement of camp. It's crazy how young the campers are and even the staff are a young bunch and many of them attended day camp as campers. I'm thankful for our church, for the day camp ministry, for all of the campers, and the staff who choose to serve.
