Kezia's Baptism

What a blessing to watch Kezia share her testimony and step out in obedience today as she was baptized. To see your children following Christ and making their faith their own is such an amazing thing to witness. We didn't even know that Kezia was considering this step until recently and today she boldly shared her faith journey:

I've always had this idea to gift an embroidered towel to my kids in honour of their baptism and thankfully I was able to get this done in time to give to Kezia today:

Placed!

Kiandra is leaving for France in 20 days and today she got her placement for where she will be working this summer. Of course I immediately googled the location, searched out ways for her to get from the Paris airport, and looked up the camp information. I *might* have also looked up some of the names listed in the email cc contacts on Facebook to see if I could check out some of the people Kiandra will be working with...maybe...I might have.

It looks like Kiandra will have quite the experience as she travels to the camp (a few different options) and at the camp itself. Here are some pictures that I found online:

I'm not sure if Kiandra realized that her placement could have been so outdoorsy but thankfully she is quick to embrace every adventure with excitement. It will be another adventure that will make great stories and I look forward to hearing all about them when I meet her in Paris after her time is done.

Church Picnic

Our church hosted its second annual community picnic and service at our church plant downtown. Our family again signed up to hand out invitations in the surrounding neighbourhood:

The weather was perfect and the turn out was even greater than last year:

We stopped for Slurpees on the way home:

A perfect picnic day.

The Grade 1 Friend Book

Every year since I started teaching, I have helped my class write a book inspired by an author and/or illustrator. This year's book was inspired by Todd Parr. He writes books like these:

We decided to write a book called "The Grade 1 Friend Book" and each student wrote a page about the things that make us unique.

"Some grade 1 friends have short hair."

"Some grade 1 friends love dogs."

"Some grade 1 friends have an epi-pen."

and so on....

I give families a chance to buy a copy of the professionally published book. The past few years I have been using mixbook and today our books arrived!

I posted a picture of us getting our new book on Instagram and what a surprise to get this message from Todd Parr on our account:

I don't know who was more excited to see this message...my Grade 1 friends....or me!

Madagascar

Kiandra invited me to join her to attend a musical performance of "Madagascar":

where Katrine was performing the role of Alex the Lion:

I'm so thankful that Kiandra asked me to join her (even if I was her 4th choice ;) and so incredible thankful for the friends my kids have.

Booked!

Our globe trotting Kiandra is heading to Capernwray bible college in Australia this fall for a 10 week program. Tonight I found a good price on flights and so I booked her flight:

AND I also booked a ticket for Conrad to attend her graduation ceremony and then they will do some travelling together before they come home.

I'm trying not to be TOO jealous of their trip because I am meeting Kiandra in Paris when she finishes her time in France this summer but I would love to visit Australia!! However, I'm so excited for Conrad and this adventure ahead with Kiandra. I'm thankful Kiandra does want us to accompany her on these adventures.

Celebration Sunday

This morning, Kezia's friend Katrine invited her to her baptism at 11:00. Kezia told us she wanted to go but had to go to Sunday School at our church because she had taken the first half of the baptism class last week and was planning to get baptized in a few weeks. She had not even told us that she was considering this and Katrine and Kezia didn't even know the other was planning it either. What a cool thing to see these friends decide to make this stand for Christ within a few weeks of each other. Of course, Conrad and I had to go too:

Then it was Conrad's planned anniversary celebration in the evening. It was his year to plan and he decided that we would do something we had always wanted to try: Hot Yoga

This was before:

and this was after:

It was amazingly hot and we made it through the 90 minute class and even bought the intro month special to attend unlimited classes in the next month. We both liked it....even though a few people who heard what Conrad had planned and questioned his planning for this date ;)

After going home to shower and change, we went out for dinner to a new restaurant:

and it was fabulous:

We walked around after (the evening was perfect weather!) and stopped for bogo gelati for dessert. We figured we earned it with our hot yoga earlier.

Celebrating 21 years of marriage....how time flies.
