So it was a big day for one of my Grade 1 friends' Dad today! It was the launch of his new (and first!) children's book. The highlight of the event was watching my Grade 1 friend read the book in front of the huge crowd of people in attendance. She did amazing! Books like "When We Were Alone" will help 'set in motion' a new way of teaching even young children about residential schools.

This book is such a great way to introduce such a delicate topic. I was glad to attend this book launch.

There was another 'launch' this evening as one of my children embarked on an evening adventure with a new friend..... :)
