When We Were Alone

It's no secret that I LOVE children's books!

Today, one of my students gifted this book to my collection:

It's a great tool to bring the issue of residential schools to a child's level. It's often hard to talk about sensitive issues with children and this book opens the conversation at their level. One of my students was even able to connect it to the Orange shirt day that happened in September. One of the best parts of this book is that the author of the book is the Dad of the student who gifted it to me!
