Jumping, Eating, and Playing

Today Kaden was invited to go jumping at Skyzone with some friends. After their 2 hour jumping session they all came back to our house for pizza (this 16 inch deep dish pan comes in handy when serving a crowd!) I was almost tempted to make another pizza because one pizza didn't look like enough but between the 6 of us we ate only half of it!
Snap chat filters were an amusing activity...especially when they tried to use them on Princeton:

They played Ticket to Ride before supper and this game of Risk lasted for hour. They were still playing when Kezia got home from work. It was fun to hear shrieks of laughter coming from the basement as they played.

I was reminded how thankful I am for the friendships that my kids have. What a blessing for them to be surrounded by so many great friends.

Roap Trip!

We didn't plan to get away this Spring Break but my friend Janice invited me for a day trip to the States. Roads were good, weather was bright, conversation was plentiful!
On of our main destinations was Smashburger for lunch....we both love that place!

and it was a successful day of shopping, eating, and catching up.

On the sidelines...

...this time to watch Conrad not Kaden. Conrad's brother invited Conrad to play in a Spring Ice hockey league and today was their first game. I was in the stands watching him:
It reminded me of the all the time I spend watching him play before we were dating. I love watching him.

Conrad wasn't sure how he'd stack up against the other guys on his team because some of them have been playing regularly and Conrad hasn't played with a league for years.

He didn't fair so badly though because by the end of the game he had scored twice and got two assists!

Final score was an 8-3 win for Conrad's new team.

She's coming home!! Well...not for another 40 days but the flight home is booked!!

Kiandra was originally scheduled to be home May 1 but soon after she left her friend Kara decided to see if she could head out to meet Kiandra and they thought it would be awesome to do some touring together. At first they didn't know if it was going to work because Kara's last exam is not until April 21 and Kiandra needs to leave the European Union after a 90 day stay but with some planning and research and more planning and booking and rebooking plans have finally been set. There's a few details in the middle that still need to be figured out but it looks like it will all work out in the end.

The current plan includes Kiandra leaving the European Union for a week to "pause" her 90 days and this will leave room in her time limit for the tour with Kara after Kara arrives after her exam. This middle part is still being planned but will likely mean Kiandra touring parts of England and/or Scotland and/or Ireland before Kara meets up with Kiandra in London where their tour will begin.

Kara and Kiandra have finalized their tour which will start in London and end in ROME. I'm so excited for them and I've looked up their itinerary and I am so jealous of all of the things they are going to see and do on their trip. When the trip ends, Kara will fly home on her flight and Kiandra will fly back to Paris and then she will fly home. Tonight I was able to finalize Kiandra's flight home and her new arrival day is May 7.

1 month, 1 week, and 2 days until then!!

It's some-bunny's birthday

Happy Easter! It was an extra special day today not only to remember and celebrate the Resurrection of Christ but also this girl turns 19 today:

I always knew that one day I would not be able to spend Kiandra's birthday with her but I never imagined it would be so soon. Thankfully, we were able to Facetime her for a bit and also see that she was being celebrated out there too.

This greeted her in the morning:

and then the team surprised her with a cake at church in the afternoon:

and then she had her favourite (pizza) for supper with pink decorations. (She'll have to wait for pepperoni pizza until she gets home because they don't have it there.

We knew she'd be in bed by the time her official time of birth came but we sent her this wish anyway as she officially turned 19:

Yikes. 19. Where does the time go? How did we become the parents of a globetrotting adult? What adventures will the coming year bring for Kiandra??

last day

Kiandra snap chatted me this:

So I sent her this:

I never imagined that I would spend my 19th anniversary of becoming a Mom away from the person who made me a Mom.

Good Friday

We had Easter Brunch at my Mom's place and while we were there we were able to FaceTime with Kiandra and hear about her day of adventure with one of the members from the missions team. She later sent us this video that she put together of what she all saw today:

On the way home from my Mom's we stopped for drinks:

and then we had a relaxing day at home together. Conrad and Kezia finished off the series "24" and we caught up the the episodes of "The Amazing Race" together.

Good Friday. A day of reflecting, relaxing, and remembering.

Thursday 13

13 things I did today:

1. Made it through the last day before Spring break with relative ease...sometimes the excitement is a bit too much for Grade 1 friends to handle.

 2. Participated in our school's Easter Chapel:

3. Made butter chicken and butter chickpeas for supper.

4. Cleaned up after supper because Conrad and Kaden left right after supper to go to the hockey game.

5. Drove the van to Kezia who was working to leave her the van for when she was finished work.

6. Walked home from her work:

7. Looked at my runtastic app and saw that it registered my "walk" home at the pace that I usually I suspected...I am a slow runner!!

8. Got this from the boys at the game:
9. I had a snuggle buddy for the evening even though I was alone for the evening:
10. I made Paska:
11. I watched Grey's Anatomy.

12. I got this snap chat from Kezia when she finished work:

13. I  made big plans for all the things I want to do over Spring Break.

No way!

Kaden's hockey season came to an end on Monday so he was without hockey practice plans for the first Wednesday in many months. He was set to have a day off from hockey when his Aunt phoned to ask if he had plans because they had an extra ticket to tonight's hockey game.

I dropped him off at the arena and he met them there. All hockey all the time....

It's the little things...

When you wake up to hear of a terrorist attack just 6 hours away from where your daughter currently lives it doesn't give you a good feeling. Thinking of her travelling through airports and subways before she comes's hard not to let your mind go to the "what ifs".

And we finalized some plans for Kiandra's friend to join her on a sightseeing tour before she comes home. We cannot let fear dominate our thoughts and our actions. Even though every fibre of me just wants to get her home (now!) I have to trust that God is placing her exactly where she needs to be and that my wishes and desires for her may not be what God has in store for her life.

So...I choose not to be afraid but to take joy in the little things:

Like Kaden snap chatting me from my classroom while I was at yearbook in the computer lab to let me know he had arrived at school:

Like me agreeing to let Kaden cash in on one of his Slurpee (we treat him to one for each goal he gets) and then telling him only if I can come in with him....and watching his face turn to shock because it was pyjama day today!

Like texting Kezia who is working hard to catch up on missed tests and assignments from last week's musical week and bringing her a Slurpee too:

Like Kiandra finally having regular access to wifi again and being able to FaceTime her when I got home.

It's the little things that I want to appreciate because those little things are the big things.

Game 5!

They made it! No one would have imagined that Kaden's team would have taken the first place team to game 5 of the series. They tied one and won one and today was game five. A win would mean adding a 6th game and a loss would mean the end of hockey season.

Warming up...

Playing hard...

It was 3-0 at the end of the 2nd:

Kaden's team did manage a goal in the third and Kade had a great shot that hit the post with about a minute left on the clock. The game ended with another goal for the other team on the empty net to make the final score 4-1 and a loss for Kaden's team.

The boys each got Silver medals and so ends the hockey season for these guys.

It was an exciting season and I know Kaden had a great one playing with this team. This may be the last time that these players end up on the same team as some of them may move on to other teams or try out for their school team. We will have to see what happens next year....

...after logging in to the myfitnesspal app for 47 days in a row and keeping a careful watch of your calories you have to have a mini blizzard for supper. ;)
