Living in my van...

Drove across the city to Kaden's volleyball tournament this morning where I got to watch him play 1 game at 9:00am

I watched him serve:

Watched him win 3 sets out of 6 and move to the next game at 2:00 but he couldn't join his team because he had a hockey game at 3:00.

The timing was perfect because I could drive him back across town to the arena (to wait for an hour) and still make it to Kezia's soccer game at 1:00:

I watched Kezia's team play harder than I have seen them play in a long time:

They were awesome with so many chances!

Finally they did get one past the goalie and ended up winning 1-0.

Then it was driving off back to Kaden's hockey game where I got to see him get a breakaway:

But fumble and not score:

However, his hard working team managed a goal a period and until the final 6 minutes of the game, the score was 3-0.

Even though they scored 2 quick goals, Kaden's team pulled off a 3-2 victory!

Then I drove home where Kezia was getting ready to head out for the evening. We ate supper, handed out treats to the 20ish kids who came by and then just after 8:30 Kiandra asked me if I wanted to go for a drive to try the Starbucks Halloween frappucino and so we did:

Date night at home

Kaden's volleyball games ended with just enough time to get the van home in time to get everyone to youth and so I stayed home to wait for Conrad. Instead of our usual routine to head out for the evening for supper, I convinced Conrad to have appies and then to watch some shows on the PVR. I had finally got the recipe for a savoury pumpkin dip from my friend Jen and so I made that for me. I walked Conrad through the layered taco dip that he likes for him:

We had enough for supper and lots leftover for snacking this weekend:

Yum! (Recipe Here)

Go Warriors!

They lost three sets in a row...but we stopped at one of Kaden's favourite places for supper (Pita Pit) so they day still ended well for him...though you can't tell from his face, lol!

Wednesday Surprises

an English Toffee from my principal:

a peace offering from our yearbook rep for our yearbook issues:
(also included: a credit towards last year's bill, a credit towards this year's bill, AND a fancy pants embossed cover for free for this year's yearbook)

a text to say instead of volleyball practice ending at 10:00pm that it would end at 9:30...which really means 9:45. (My end of the day view looks eerily similar to my view this morning: dark and in the van.)

Yearbook Woes

This year, I agreed to take over the main advisor role for our school yearbook. My good friend Sheri has been in this role for many many many years and she is feeling the need to step back. I agreed to step up for this year and see how it goes. Our team meets each Tuesday after school from 3:30-5:00 and the occasional Saturday blitz if we need it.

So...our first batch of school yearbooks from last year arrived a few weeks ago. When we took the time to page through the books nearly half were damaged. About 10 books from shipping mishandling and the others from a printing press error. When we notified our rep, she agreed to reprint our whole batch for free.

Last week, our second batch of books arrived. Today when our team was checking through the books again, we found out that our 8 pages "World Beat" portion (which includes top news stories and highlights in fashion, tech, politics, and trends) was left out of our books. It was disappointing to have to talk to our rep again about another error. She was so apologetic and so disappointed that this was left out. We will hear tomorrow about what will happen next....

Got Courage?

I had a meeting after school today that was tough.
Circumstances leading up to today's meeting had me concerned.
Heavy stuff...important stuff...needed to be said stuff....
Hopefully, today's meeting causes a move forward from here in a positive direction.

Kaden's first game of the season was a loss but considering this is the team that whipped them last year, this was a respectable score. (We also lost 5 minutes off the clock late in the third because so many penalties happened in this game that they were behind schedule. Who knows what could have happened in those 5 minutes?!)

0 - 0

The final score for Kezia's second game of the indoor season ended in a tie

After the late afternoon game, the girls and I picked up pizza and then went to enjoy and evening together at home.

Inservice Day and Small Group Night

Today was province wide inservice day for teachers and it was nice to pick a session close to home. I left with a few ideas to try:

and with 2 door prizes! My friend Sherry who teaches kindergarten at our school also won the big prize of the book that our session was based on:

Kiandra worked from 9:00-4:00 (Sherry and I went to eat lunch where she works because it was just down the street from our inservice.) After I picked her up, I helped her get ready for hosting her small group at our house. Kiandra had planned an encouragement card making evening:

with chocolate fountain for a snack:

Brace Yourself--for the third time!

It was an early morning date for some mouth bling for Kaden today:

He was in good hands:

and Kezia is patiently waiting to hear when she'll get hers off.

Back to the Future Day!

One of my most favourite movies is Back to the Future! My favourite of the trilogy is part two when Marty journeys to the future and arrives on October 21, 2015.
Today was that day!

Conrad and I had been given a gift certificate for Christmas from his parents and I convinced Conrad to take me to the dinner theatre show "Michael Jackson is Back from the Future". It was really good! The food was good.

The singing was great. The evening was really fun!

Of course, I wore my October dress:
