Strange...but true

*Our church had 300 envelopes on the wall in the front foyer. (here's why)

*My girls and and their two friends made a music video at a few places including The Home Depot.

*Our neighbour knocked on our door to say there was a guy passed out in our backyard by our garage and we had to call the paramedics to see if he was alright. He was roused and made his way down the backlane.

Celebrating 19 years...

On Monday, Conrad will celebrate our 19th anniversary. That's crazy! Tonight we celebrated that milestone.

Since we take turns planning our anniversary date, and Conrad does the odd years, it was his year. I'd been anxiously awaiting the opening of a new pizza bistro and even though I did find out this week that it had open, Conrad said he had had the idea first. I was just glad to be able to try it! It was fabulous! Conrad had hoped it would be a walking date, but the weather was just a wee bit too cold.

First they squished the dough into a super thin crust:

then you could choose unlimited toppings (kind of like Subway!):

Then it baked in a cool fired oven for 4 minutes! While you waited you could serve yourself from the "100 flavour" pop machine:

and did I mention dips? This restaurant has it all!

mandatory date night selfies:

Pizza is served:

After dinner, we went to a local dessert place for their awesome cheesecake. I had black forest and Conrad had peanut butter:

Ahhh 19 years well spent and looking forward to what the next years have in store for us...

Last Jazz Cab

The four nights of band concerts concludes with the highly anticipated Jazz Cabaret. The concert begins at 7:00 and continues for hours. This year's concert continued until 11:00. Conrad and I only stayed for Kiandra's intermediate band set and for the vocal jazz set.

Kiandra shared this photo with me of her friend Chase. It was pretty cool that they showed up to the concert in the same colour and it wasn't even planned. Even in her trial run in her grad shoes, Kiandra is still noticeably shorter than him!

And so another chapter in this year of lasts closes...

Thursday 13

13 things that happened today:

1. Kaden's track meet was cancelled due to rain.

2. We had indoor recess for the morning.

3. Our principal took Tim Hortons drink orders from all the staff and then treated us.

4. I ordered an iced cap but the machine was broken.

5. I got a chocolate chill instead...which was awesome!

6. We all ate supper around the table together (club house sandwiches, potato salad, and coleslaw).

8. We were thankful for the concert order was choir first and then wind ensemble:

9. After the choir portion was over, we were able to sneak out the back door to head out to Kaden's ball hockey game.

10. Kiandra drove my van home with Kezia after the concert.

11. Kaden actually posed for a picture (this is becoming more rare):

12. Kaden's team was down 2-0 in the early minutes of the game.

13. In the end, they lost 3-0...which seemed actually pretty good from how it started!

1-0

Usually the high school concerts are stretched over 4 nights. One night is concert band. One night is choir and wind ensemble. One night is guitar. One night is Jazz. Every other year, the choir concert has been on Wednesday. This year it was on Thursday...which meant that Kezia would not miss her Wednesday night game tonight.

They played hard but the game ended in a 1-0 loss for Kezia's team. But I'd like to say that scheduling this week has been a win! ;)

Festival of the Arts

With the craziness of our extra-curricular activities, it's bound to happen that events will end up on the same night or at the same time. This week, however, we will almost make it through 3 band/choir concerts, 2 soccer games, 2 ball hockey games, and Festival of the Arts with tonight being the only overlap! While Conrad was over at the high school watching Kiandra's very last band concert, Kaden and I went out for supper:

and then attended our school's Festival of the Arts where Kaden played his euphonium in the Grade 7&8 band:

and sang with the "Singers" choir:

This event usually happens on a Thursday night, but it was moved due to a track meet this week. If it had been on Thursday, Kaden would have had to miss a ball hockey game. Also, Kaden usually has a game on a Tuesday, but this week tonight's game was moved to yesterday. I love it when things work out like that!

These are the days...

It's a rare occasion these days when all the kids are at home and doing the same thing. Conrad and I were treated to a rare trampoline acrobat show by our kids. Kezia landed her very first ever forward flip. Kiandra managed to stay on the trampoline, even without the safety net! Kaden got some good air time as he tried to land on his stomach.
